 Lake Kaweah Trout Derby
May 19-20, 2012 (Rain or Shine)
The Second Annual Lake Kaweah Trout Derby, will be held on Saturday and Sunday (May 19 & 20) at Lake Kaweah, in Lemon Cove, forty minutes east of Visalia on Highway 198. Derby hours are from 8AM to Sunset on Saturday, and 8AM to 3:00PM on Sunday. It is recommended that all anglers fishing from boats take a FREE 20-minute vessel safety check on-site, conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. After successfully passing this safety check the boat owner will be entered into a door prize drawing for $250.00 cash.
- All Derby participants must have in their possession a valid California fishing license. Children 15 years of age and younger who wish to participate are not required to have a license, but must be accompanied by a registered adult.
- Registration fees are $25.00 per licensed adult, and $50.00 per family. Family registration is limited to husband and wife and a maximum of up to 3 children 15 years of age and younger. Derby prizes may only be claimed by registered adults, 18 years or older.
- All participants must be officially registered to be eligible to win any prizes. Prizes are subject to change without notice.
- All adult registrants must sign the registration form. Adult registrants agree that they additionally have the legal authority to sign
on behalf of any parent or guardian for any child under the age of 18 who accompanies them on any watercraft participating in the Derby.
- All registrants, by affixing their signatures and participating in the Derby agree and understand they fish/boat/enter the water, at
their own risk. Influentials Magazine, its owners and all sponsors are not responsible for damage or injury during the Derby to property or persons.
- All registrants and others on watercraft, hold harmless Influentials Magazine, its owners and all sponsors for same. If an entrant registers online and pays via Pay Pal, in lieu of signing the Entry form, registrant agrees to abide by all Derby rules as posted, or sent to them electronically with their Entry Confirmation.
- Registration officially CLOSES at noon, May 16, 2012. For a registration refund, requests MUST be made by close of business,
May 11, 2012. No refunds will be made after this date.
- All fish must be caught under the current guidelines of the California Fishing Regulations. A maximum of three (3) tagged fish prizes may be turned in per day, per each registrant. A family registration is considered one registration.
- Fish must be captured alive using standard hook and line and standard fishing techniques. No netting, shocking or explosive actions allowed (natural or man-made). Fishing at night or the use of underwater spotlights is not allowed. Fishing lines may not be in the water before safelight either day or after dusk on Saturday. No professional fishermen are allowed to participate.
- All participants must be fishing from a boat that is properly registered and also in compliance with all USCG safety requirements. All persons on board each boat must be registered to fish.
- All tagged fish must be brought to the Lake Kaweah Marina office at the bottom of the Lemon Cove Recreation Area and verified by the Derby Director as soon as possible on the day the catch was made. TO BE ELIGIBLE TO CLAIM ANY OF THE PRIZE FISH you must be officially registered. Bring a picture I.D. with you to claim your prize at the Kaweah Marina, or the email that contains your designated registration number. No tagged fish will be received before 8:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
- Verification of catch and awarding of all prizes closes at 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 20, 2012. No prizes will be awarded after this time. To receive prize awards, participants must show proper identification with picture I.D. consistent with registration. Unregistered persons or minors may not collect any awards. Each winner is responsible for paying any and all taxes on any prize(s) won and must authorize the deduction of such taxes, if any, from the prize(s) to the extent required by law. Boat and truck prize winners are responsible for registration fees and sales tax.
- The person catching the $10,000.00 fish will be paid by check according to the insurance company policy. To receive the $10,000.00 prize, the winner must agree to take (regardless of issues) and pass in a conclusive manner, a polygraph examination. The taking (including signing of a waiver of polygraph liability) and the passing of the polygraph examination must occur within 30 days from the end of the Derby. A polygraph exam may also be required of the angler catching the F150 Truck or Skeeter Boat fish prize.
- A social security number must also be provided before an insured prize is awarded. One independent witness is required for verification of the insured prizes: including the F150 truck, Skeeter Boat and $10,000.00 cash prize. All other prizes will be awarded on the same day of the catch and are void after the Derby cut-off times listed.
- Derby committee members and USCG Auxiliary members will be on the lake during the Derby to observe those who are participating. Anyone found in violation of Derby rules will be automatically disqualified and will not receive any prizes.
- For Boaters, a 5 mph speed limit is suggested for all participants on Derby weekend, as the lake may be crowded. The Derby will take place regardless of weather conditions.
- Once completed in full, your 2012 Trout Derby registration form will not be returned to you. You may verify your registration either Derby day by contacting the Derby Director. The Director will be on the lake both Derby days. Contact Kaweah Marina to reach him via VHF radio.
- No current or former employee, vendor, sponsor or their immediate family members, volunteers, USACE or USCGA officers or members, their agents, successors, or assignees, major derby prize sponsors, their families, and/or affiliated organizations involved in the Derby are eligible for any of the insured prizes including the F150 truck, Skeeter Boat or $10,000.00.
- To help prevent the introduction of invasive species into Lake Kaweah, fisherman are reminded to inspect and clean all equipment (boats, trailers, paddles, etc) and to remove any soil, seed and plant materials attached before entering Lake Kaweah.
- DO NOT REMOVE THE TAG FROM YOUR RAINBOW TROUT PRIOR TO GETTING IT VERIFIED.
- THE LIST OF WINNING TAG NUMBERS WILL BE POSTED AT KAWEAH MARINA. WINNING FISH WILL HAVE WHITE TAGS ON THEM WITH A NUMBER FROM 1 to 100. PLEASE BRING YOUR CATCH TO THE KAWEAH MARINA (LEMON HILL RECREATION AREA) THE SAME DAY IT IS CAUGHT WITH TAGS INTACT. NO PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED AFTER 3PM on May 20, 2012, OR IF A TAG IS REMOVED FROM THE FISH. ALL PRIZES, (EXCEPT THE $10,000 CASH, THE ZX170 FISHING BOAT & THE FORD F150 TRUCK) WILL BE PAID THE SAME DAY OF THE CATCH.
